Children's Eye Exams

Children's Eye Exam

Children’s eye exams are a vital part of early healthcare. Young children typically don’t realize when something is wrong with their eyesight—they may assume everyone sees the way they do. That’s why regular comprehensive eye exams are so important.

An eye exam will detect a wide range of eye conditions including common conditions like:

- Amblyopia (lazy eye)

- strabismus (eye turn)

- myopia (nearsightedness)

- binocular vision disorders

These conditions can significantly impact a child’s development, learning, and quality of life if left undiagnosed. Early detection through eye exams allows for timely intervention, giving children the best chance for healthy vision.

All children in Ontario, aged 0-19 years, are covered once a year for a comprehensive eye exam through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).
